Appreciate the thought. Though, in an odd twist Juniper technically ISN'T black. He LOOKS black in shade or normal lighting, but when the sun hits his fur, you can see he is actually very, very dark brown, with tabby stripes (he also has a single white hair between his shoulder blades*, but whether that is visible or not depends on whether that follicle has shed recently or not).
It's probably better that way. I understand that like albinism, melanism can also come with some health problems. So just having fur that is dark on a normal body is probably healthier.

*Actually, our cat before Juniper, Cassia, ALSO had a few white hairs in the same place. Since our very first cat, Pesto, was ALL white, we take it as a sign that she approves of our new choices. It also came in hand when she disappeared for a while and then came back, as it allowed us to differentiate her from another similar looking tabby that roamed the neighborhood.
