As you can see , at least in my family's case, the increase in height seems to follow in the male line throughout the generations. On the female side it seems to remain constant in the majority of cases... on my wife's side of her female family line, my wife looks exactly like her mother, grandmother, and greatmother but may vary no more than an inch in height. our daughter looks exactly the same in appearance and height as her mom. Our daughter's 15 year old daughter is a mini me of her in looks and height. Our daughter's two newborn twin daughters look exactly like our daughter. Our two son's daughters have a strong resemblanse to my wife, but one of them has a much taller and slender body structure from her mom's father. As for hybrid vigor, yes it could be , but then one never knows what sets of genes as well as what gene is dominant, co- dominant, or recesive over the other that each individual inherits from whom and that particular combination might be not so good. Just the luck of the draw out of millions of possible gene combinations in the individual's genome.
