Breed Preservation, it was my mom's choice - she was mostly in charge of picking out the chicken breed. We may or may not add another breed later (we would be keeping them pure). The idea is to keep things simple for now and try to take things slow.

Makes sense to me. If I could have a rooster, I would want a pure breed too. The only thing would be figuring out which one!

Even though I have thought about starting an amateur chicken breeding project, It probably would have been my choice also. I by far prefer plant breeding, too many benefits when compared to chicken breeding to list now.

A mixed flock is fun, I love all the different colors and patterns. But if I was going to raise my own chicks, I would have to replenish the flock with pure breeds.
