I have lived in a tiny house. But not the new ones. The place I had lived in had only the tiny livingroom, next to the bedroom, Had to walk thru the bedroom, to get to the kitchen. The only bath, with only a shower..was in the bedroom. I loved it. But I was by myself by then.

I've always thought I could live in a one or two room house, if I had a big space for storing all my stuff.
I know there is a trend to "de-clutter" your life, but every time I throw something away, two weeks later I find that I need it. So no de-cluttering or downsizing for me right now.

I have experienced the same thing So Lucky! Why is it that something can sit around uselessly for years and then suddenly when it's gone be so perfect for something?

Sure I could and I think they are darling, but I wouldn't pay the price they are asking. I was raised in a tiny home with my parents and four other siblings...then any additional sibs that moved home between jobs, military posts, marriages, etc. No electricity or running water even, so small spaces? I can do it without a problem.

This was our first log cabin build and it was completed in 3 wks time, from start to finish , as we were in a hurry to get on the land before winter came...the lean to room was the kitchen and half of that was taken up by a ginormous wood cook stove, so we all slept and lived in the original room. The main room also had a large stove in it, smack dab in the middle of the floor.

This is my folks, standing in the middle of that larger room....

I could certainly live in a smaller space, but probably not one so tiny with DH. I have often imagined the building of several small apartments with a center shared yard space. These would be good for singles, starters, or folks as they age and downsize. I do think they have their place if done properly.

When building a house ... the smaller the house, the more expensive it is to build per square foot. Just price the new construction homes in a residential subdivision. Exception would be for the HIGH end custom home and depending on what expensive custom features the customer wants in that particular home. :th

The first house I bought and lived in for 11 years was a 600 sf 1940's house in the city, and when that flooded (yes, a previous house disaster) I lived in a 250 sf travel trailer for a year before buying this 1940's country place. This house is modest by today's standards, but more spacious than any place I've ever lived. Someday I would like to add on an extension to the kitchen, and a new master bedroom & bath.
