Hardly anyone has air conditioning up here in the PNW as we normally have prety mild temperatures. We just set a new record of 20 days of tempertures over 90* for a year time frame. Most homes have ceiling fans , We have no airconditioning , howver wehave a ceiling fan in every room in the house

My dad would agree with that. When he joined the Navy as a 17 year old kid, he was stationed in SF. That Idaho boy said he had never been so cold!

You know how, in south-est, central-est Wisconsin, say it is not the heat; it's the humidity? Well, that runs pretty true with winters in the PNW. The constant rain, fog, clouds, and other precipitation forms make the cold all that much colder. I remember not being able to warm up after being out in the drizzle of a winter along the West coast. "Cold to the bones" from the mix of precip. and temps.

Even here in the coldest part of winter (-25 degrees (F)) I haven't felt as cold as I did at 32 degrees (F) in Portland, OR.

Red ...In the BIG VALLEY of Cal. in the winter ( Dec. Jan. FEb.) I had to wear thermal underwear, under blue jeans, heavy long sleave shirt, and a heavy jacket as well as a hat and I still shivered. FOG so heavy that you can hardly see in front of the hood on your car. and temperatures in the low to mid 30 ' s Now, living the the PNW, just N or Portland, Ore. , all I need in the winter months, is a long sleeved shirt over a T shirt, blue jeans and a ligh coat to stay dry during a drizzle / rain. Surprizingly , we have fairly low himidity inspite of the rain as ... wait 15 minutes, all of the rain water drains away. Here we don't have mud to speak of .. nothing like Cal. where after a light rain one has 10 extra pounds of mud on one's boots.
