Use those old toilet paper, paper towel rolls, XMAS paper rolls for planting seeds!

I cut them down to about 1.5-2 inches high...

You can label them right on the tube...

I do not cover the bottom, just pack the tubes with very moist peat moss...

Then place the seed on the surface and cover with more peat moss if needed...

Then into the windowsill...

I love it!!! I think of it as money saved to spend on more seed! :clap

I started saving my rolls after seeing the picture in your French garden post. I haven't tried it yet...and I didn't think about writing on the outside of the roll. Good thinking!! Great pictures...thanks beav.

great idea, thanks for showing. Are those Baker Creek seeds I see ?? :bouquet
Do you have to pop them out of the tube to plant? I cant see that they would degrade fast enough.

Yep! Freshly purchased Baker Creek seeds for sure:D

No need to pop the sprouts out of the tubes, just plant them in the garden bed like peat pots!

Make them a little taller and then you also have your collar for cut worms. Great idea. Just my luck DH threw out my wrapping paper roll. Oh well. There is always next year.;)

Beavis,
So after seeing your little seed pots I got busy yesterday and had to put some together. I planted a ton because some of my seeds are getting kinda old. What do you think? I used everything I had plus when I was searching for tp rolls. I discovered a bunch of Dixie cups in my girls trash. Woo hoo, more pots!!!! We will see how they work.

Yes, it faces south. There is a single light glass door. So there is a ton of light. My seed helper is my 3 year old. She places the seed one at a time for me. A very important job. :D

I must go take pictures to share I think.... I hope everyone posts their's.

I would love to see your seed pots after you get them going. I though maybe some sprout updates would be nice from veryone as well. :)
