Tomato hornworms are rare??

Poorly worded. It's rare that they get to 6" long. Why gardeners normally find them, birds, or the wasps lay eggs on them and kill them. What is rare is when I don't get them.

Mine won't either.
The worms do make pretty moths, tho, that resemble hummingbirds. Not enough reason to let them eat my tomato plants, however.

Last year was the first time in many years we had enough Japanese Beetles to notice. The year prior it was lady bugs and mosquitoes. The year prior, aphids. Bugs are impolite, they don't make advance reservations before arriving for dinner. :/
