I picked out one from Baker Creek. I got the Black Cherry tomatoes. Of course I went on to trade for 5 other types on the seed train...LOL

Great addiction to have. Try a fresh ripe tomato w/good bread, little mayo........food for a king. If you like onions, you can add to sandwich.

Oh YEAH, I live on tomato sandwiches in the summer. Quick and easy so I can get back outside. Don't forget the salt and pepper!

Never done the salt/pepper thing. I need to try it. In fact need to start another thread (so as not to hi-jack this one) on different ways people eat tomato sandwiches.

Just think of all the centuries man didn't eat tomatos thinking they were poison. Wonder how the first one was eaten.......given as a death sentence?? If so, what a way to die.

Actually someone (isnt that nice, now I can't remember who ) sat down on the steps to the Capitol and ate a whole tomatoe. It drew a huge crowd because they thought he was crazy. Needless to say, he didn't die. I guess the mayans and south americans have been eating them for thousands of years, but we thought they were stull poisonous. We are so smart

WifeZilla, I picked those Black Cherry tomatoes too... along with a orange kind, a yellow kind, drying tomatoes from italy, Rio Grand (drought tolerant paste tomatoes), keeping tomatoes, early tomatoes.... and some others.

I am finding more and more I want to try, so far these are the varieties I have started:

Red oxheart
Brandywine Pink
Yellow Pear
Soldacki
Pineapple
Black Krim
Fuzzy Peach
Mortgage lifter
Amish Paste
Crimson Cushion Beefsteak

Anyone have any other varieties that are a must have? I might have to try somemore!!!

I got some black krim seeds from oldfashioned. They are doing pretty well.

What, no cherries??

I've tried and failed to grow uncracked Yellow Pear. Ildi makes an excellent substitute.

Sungold is one of America's favorite cherries. I like it too but I've grown and enjoyed SunSugar for quite a few more years. SunSugar is probably my favorite tomato , if'n I had to pick one.

This is the 1st year I haven't had Large Red Cherry in decades. But, I'm not scared , I've got my favorite red cherry - Sweet Chelsea. And, I'm real happy to have grown Sweet 100 again in 'o9, after not having it for a long while. Lots of those plants right now.

The Black Cherries came up real well . I'm looking forward to trying that one. It gets such rave reviews from gardeners and I noticed that it rated right up near the top in that Mother Earth News poll that was linked here on TEG.
