That is what I plan to do net year. My tomatoes definately stopped producing toward the end of May early June. So I ripped the out thinking I would just have a fall crop. But transplanting in the heat ain't easy. Please let me know how it goes?
Most of mine were indeterminate so they technically should produce right up until the first good frost. So far the stuff that was dead and dying that I trimmed back has totally turned them around. they have what looks like whole new plants coming from the base and all along the branches that I did leave. So far everything is looking good. Tonight I plan on spraying for aphids and worms with some soapy water then I can do an overhead sprinkling first thing in the morning (unless we're fortunate enough to get some rain tonight) to wash the soap off.....

Not only are my green ones not ripening, but I noticed this morning that they're falling off! :(

I would blame the chickens, but their MO is usually to just peck at them on the vine.

I am having a mildew problem just as they start to ripen they develop a white mildew on the stem side of the fruit but not all my plants and they are all in the same raised bed...I have had very little ripening and today was the first time I got to eat a tomato sandwich...the cherry toms are finally ripening... could my problem be that they are all heirloom tomatoes and the mildew was in the seed??? or could it be this years new england weather????
