One alternative that is less expensive, at least here, is the concrete re-wire. You can buy it in panels that I think are 7 feet long, instead of buying a whole roll of it. Also a lot easier to get home than the panels.
When I was hunting for _rolls_ of concrete reinforcing wire, this is all I could find -- 4x7 panels of it. I didn't think of using it flat. :) Good idea!

I'm using hay string/twine to keep them closer to the panel. Lots of green tomatoes in there.

That is Exactly how we always do it!! Now our strong SIL does the muscle work. This is the method that has always worked best for us. Our tomatoes are not that size by a long shot.. so much rain we only managed to get a few planted before the ground got too wet, and stayed that way!

That looks awesome. I am growing climbing tomatoes one a wire frame this year. It is actually the innards from an old box spring.
Next year I will pay more attention to which ones actually want to climb. I have an entire panel set up for a row of Roma, which are *clearly* a bush type.
