tornado hit my town

I left my rubber boots by the front door, instead of coming in the door and leaving them inside. I have been looking forward to being able to leave dirty boots on the porch instead of in the house. BUT......I went to put them on this afternoon and they had been positioned under a leak. They were half full of water! I might as well of left them outside!

Glad you are okay and I can imagine that nobody did expect a tornado in December. This warm weather could really cause some damage. I think I read on the news there was a tornado in Washington the other day. Crazy weather!

Glad your all right, are metal roofs noisy in heavy rain or hail?

Does a drum make any noise when struck with a stick ? One needs to have sheets of plywood and insulation under the metal roofing to muffle the sound somewhat.

It is, really, bay. You might not see it as funny until a bit of time has passed, but a boot of water? Too funny!

Oh yeah, I thought it was funny! There I'd been looking forward to being able to leave dirty shoes on the porch instead of tramping in the house, and they were half full of water! The contractor showed up Monday, finished up the little things, and fixed the leaks. We got 1/2" of rain last night--and no leaks!!

@Nyboy I wish I had a metal roof, but I don't. We have a metal carport and it sounds like an assault on the ears when it is raining. We are building a barn and it will be fully decked with plywood, then heat barrier, then the metal roof.

Bay... when you build that carport ... I would recomend that you put a layer of tarpaper between the metal roof and plywood as during periods of high humidity / raining , water will condence on the bottom surface of the metal roof then when it starts to drip, will drop onto the plywood and dry rot will start to form.
