@Nyboy, I just remembered my latest addition (in the tree category anyway ). I was at HD for something completely unrelated, and so boring that I can't even remember what it was. Coincidently I seemed to have parked by the garden entrance and they had a pallet of conifers on sale.

It's my duty to check these things out in case there's something one of my clients needs, and oh my golly there was a Horstmann Silberlocke fir! I suddenly remembered how badly I needed it, and at that price it came home with me.

It is, honestly, not shaped very nicely, and had about zero root system, so now it's a challenge to see if I can make it thrive. But it's still small, about 4' and seems to be holding it's own, so fingers crossed. If it survives it's first winter in the ground I think it will be smooth sailing.

Here's a picture I copied. Not mine.

And this is what they look like up close.

You are such a dutiful, conscientious person, @thistlebloom, to park next to the Garden Center with only your clients' interests at heart. At least you made the decision to purchase that fine fir out of an obvious need. Plants seem to attach themselves to my cart unbeknownst to me. It may take a year or more before I find the perfect spot for them.

I ALWAYS park by the garden center but I tell people it's so I can remember where I parked if I park at the same entrance every time ;)
