... lately?

I thought about putting this in the Everything Else forum but gardening is a long-term commitment. I mean, if you set something out in the vegetable garden or orchard, it may be months or years before you can bring some of what it produces to the table.

We shouldn't be faulted for produce purchases, right ;)?

I just had a persimmon and a kiwi with breakfast. I'm sure I was an adult before I had eaten either. They go rather well with the multigrain hot cereal for breakfast.

Left-over roast chicken will go in soup with celeriac, leeks, etc. for lunch. I had never eaten celery root until about 10 years ago, leeks about 20 ... okay, 30. It took me awhile to realize that I could grow leeks better than that first year

I had some quail eggs in a bowl of pho noodles the other day. That way was different but I've had Coturnix quail in my backyard before. You can buy the canned eggs and I'm sure that's where they came from. Okay like that.

Actually, no. I've been stuck in a culinary rut lately. Been thinking about trying to prepare some Indian food, but don't really know where to start.

We just use it to adapt a simple beef stew. Like this - click!

Maybe not very imaginative but I like the curry powder sauce ;).

Nope...but getting ready to make some dishes from pumpkin and jalapenos soon, as that's what is left of the garden yet to preserve. Found some great looking recipes involving both of these ingredients and want to try some and maybe can them up. Who knew other folks had the same idea of using jalapenos and pumpkins together? :D

I'd be interested in learning about your recipe results, @Beekissed !

I have 3 pumpkins in the garage that can go downstairs with the winter squash.

The one I tried to store last year did okay.

Will do...found one soup recipe that looks stellar, some tasty looking dips and I want to try to make a fiery sandwich spread out of it, sort of like the fire jam I make with hot banana peppers.

I will pass on the pasta sauce until I see a favorable report. I like my homemade tomato sauce just fine :). Should try harder to come up with the "right" paste tomato, tho ;).

"Fiery" sandwich spread sounds more likely! Jalapenos have the best pepper flavor for my taste :D.

However ... a punkin as big as what is available is gonna make a HUGE amount of sandwich spread! I wish I could convince DW, who likes zucchini, that pumpkins are a good alternative.
