She took a bulb and bit it in two. I had a couple I had dug up when we put in our new flowerbed. I meant to replant them elsewhere and just tossed them under a bush and forgot about them. I saw her do it and ran to take it away. It looked like it was all there, but apparently she swallowed a tiny piece, about the size of half an aspirin tablet. Right before bedtime she got sick and I had a whole lot of carpet to clean. :/ But I'm glad we figured out what happened before we put her down for bed.

I didn't know about the peroxide trick for dogs. I remember my mom kept ipecac syrup on hand in case one of us kids was poisoned, but they don't recommend that anymore. I guess with the advent of the poison control center, they can handle each case more specifically and no sense in causing them dehyration if you don't have to. I remember my sister ate a poison mushroom from the yard and also a rhubarb leaf when she was little. We say that this one definitely takes after her aunt in being a handful! My oldest DD was always clung to my leg and crying so that I couldn't get anything done outside. This one is the total opposite. You set her down and she is off and *gone* in a heartbeat. The grandmas actually dread to watch her since they can't keep up with her. :p

Here's a pic I snapped of her this evening, first time with her hair pulled into pig-tails. She is 16 months old now. Doesn't she just look rotten? LOL

so glad she ate just a tiny amount & was not a trip to the ER! how much hydrogen peroxide do you give animals? I've got two big dogs & two cats.

years ago our daughter, about 10 at the time had all the neighbor kids over & she had them eating honey suckle flowers. only problem being they weren't honey suckle, but were Carolina jasmine. poison control said we had to get the kids to throw up. I went after syrup of ipecac. we dosed all the kids (there were 8 or so). kids were throwing up over the railing, in the kitchen sink, in the bathroom sink, in the toilet, in the bathtub; and all of them were bawling. none of us EVER forgot that little episode.

Thanks, Thistle...yep, I definitely have to be quick on the draw with this one!

BJ Taylor, I just did a quick search on carolina jasmine. Very pretty, but I'm glad I don't have one! I need to get rid of the datura for a couple years too. DD6 loves honeysuckle. I can totally see her doing something like that. 8 kids...what a nightmare...that's a lot of throw-up! :p

Oh Journey, she's beautiful! But you sure can see the trouble brewing behind those pretty blue eyes! The look on her face says "Just wait 'till you see what I'm gonna do next..." I'm really glad she is OK. I didn't even know tulip bulbs were poisonous.

Thanks for letting us know about tulip bulbs. Our Dog ate daffodil bulbs. Dug then UP and ate them. Geesh. So yes we did the hydrogen peroxide thing. The vet said to just pour some in a dish. They think it is water. start to drink it and by the time they figure out it is not they usually have enough to do the trick. So It doesn't take much. I figure the fizzing and foaming gets the animal to start ... well you know.... :sick
Your DD is ADORABLE. Our youngest Grandson is 2. He is the cutest little DEVIL on very fast feet! I know how the grandparents feel. ;) Glad she is O.K. and still giving you gray hairs.

Very cute baby ! Oh, since she is topless and the photo is posted on a public forum , watch out for the morality/ child pornography police. I will add Oleander leaves ( one will make a child sick, 2-3 will kill a child, sheep or goat, 5-7 will kill a horse) to the poisonous plant parade.
