Nyboy, I'll bet your plants are going to love fishy water. What kind of fish do you have?
The only caution to other people would be *not salt water tanks, oreven brackish water* as the salt would be too much for plants.
Thinking about it makes me want my salt water tank back.
Right now Central American Cichlids they are almost as colorful as saltwater fish. My favorite is a electric blue Jack Dempsey, look them up. For a long time I had goldfish, but they are much happier outside in the pond.
love the color of Jack Dempsey Cichlids. i used to have stripped convicts and a couple Oscars as a kid. Peacock Cichlids are neat too but different part of the world.
I always thought the Mbunas were so fascinating but they are all pretty aggressive little buggers, aren't they?
And you can't have a pretty landscaped tank with African cichlids. They have to rearrange things.
only in past couple years have i started the planted tanks. i have blue & some white Mickey Mouse plattys with a couple Green Lantern plattys along with my betta & a couple bumble bee catfish in the planted tank.
i did find a plant that my koi & gold fish won't eat much & will grow in their tanks-java moss. problem is once you have a small amount in a tank it just doesn't stop growing & nothing will eat it up quick enough to keep it in check. the baby fish love it for hiding but i worry about removing it & trying to dispose of the excess properly. i worry it could become invasive.
i wonder if it could dry out & use it like sphagnum peat moss to retain moisture in flower pots.
