i got the whole 'i don't really want to know where my food comes from' from a co-worker some time back. they just bought a house and not she's got a big garden, neighbors have pigs and poultry and her son loves it! now she's delighted to have neighbors that are farmers/gardeners and helping her out.

Years ago in Florida, one of DH's city-raised co-workers came to our house, where we had a big garden. He honestly had NO idea that tomatoes start out as flowers, then the fruit grows and that little spot on the bottom is where the blossom used to be.

Anywhere near Perryville by chance? My BIL's family are there.
Not near Perryville at all. Dad's farm was south of Cape about 15 miles near a tiny town of Commerce, MO. Right on the river. The 100 year old house was up on a ridge but the 1939 flood took out some of the barns 4 years before I was born. From the time I was 6 (1949) until I was 12 I thought I was Tom Sawyer. Every spring my friends and I built a raft and played all day on the great Mississippi. When I was 13 our living room and one bed room burned and my dad and his brother built a loft in one of the barns. My mom, dad, sister, and I lived in that loft for 3 years until the house was fixed. My sister and I worked on the farm most of our teen years.

I haven't been back there for a long time but I have heard that our old farm is now a winery with a fancy restaurant.

Yes, it is! I've not been there but I see the ads for it on TV occasionally.
Oh wow! Do you know the name of the winery? I would like to see their website and see if they have pictures of the farm. Now I'm excited. Even at my age I still have very fond and vivid memories of that place . . . the Mississippi mud in my hair and in my teeth . . . my first kiss . . . my first smoke (yuk) . . . my first chew (yuk) . . . sweaty dirty work until you just fall down for a rest in the hot sun. . . where I learned to drive . . . BIG catfish . . . Big bulls . . . Big pigs . . . BIG logs to split . . . BIG dreams. I better stop my nostalgic journey now.

Yes, it's called RiverRidge Winery. Their website is riverridgewinery.com. I hope it jives with your nostalgia. :)

Thanks so lucky. I went to the River Ridge Winery website and scoured through the pics. The old cabin pic looks a little familiar but that's the only thing that brings even a hint of memory to mind. I also found the winery on Google maps and that's exactly the place where I grew up.
