Wears me out watching him

What is it about people of a certain age and taking drugs? We are lucky to live in a time that has them. Some days my father can barely walk from pain, suggest to him a painkiller might make him feel better, and watch him yell. My grandfather would complain all the time to me about the amount of pills he had to take everyday, my answer was always the same, those pills are whats keeping you alive.

It is rather funny. He wouldn't tell me if he had a broken rib, but is the biggest baby when he catches a cold. However, if TLC and chicken soup won't 'cure' it, he just makes us suffer through to the bitter end.

I prefer using the least meds needed to alleviate the symptoms while waiting for the cause to pass. We both get well at the same time, but one of us behaves like a wuss.
