Wet, wet, wet here. Thick fog this Am. Hanging around the 50's/60's until tomorrow night, then BANG, down to freezing for a couple of nights and barely hitting 40 during the day.
We've had so much rain in the last several weeks that it's getting REALLY hard to get hay to the cows.

Steve, it has been raining almost all week long but not very much, only about .5 inches in the East Bay. Locally we don't get the flooding that other areas up north might. Mornings have been foggy.

We went up to our cabin the weekend of Thanksgiving and there was about 2 ft. of snow. We are at 5,000 ft elevation. There hasn't been snow at this time in years!

San Francisco (click) and heading west.

This must be part of the storm system @flowerbug was commenting on in the words for onions thread. Wow! If you visit San Francisco, you discover that everywhere it's either up or down. Runoff from their typically rainy weather must be fairly dramatic, at times. Other than that, flooding is a surprise!

Downtown San Fran has had over 2" of rain this past week with nearly 1" falling on the 7th.

It makes me wonder about the Sacramento River dikes but the snow in the Sierras has to be an immediate concern. This storm produced over 5" of rain in some parts of northern California, the WS says. Some ski areas are reporting over 2' of snow in a recent 48 hours.

How are things with you, @ninnymary ???

Steve

it has been interesting to watch. the first three inches in the beginning of the time period didn't bump up the inflows that much but once we got only a few more inches on top of that then the inflows really went up quite a bit. good news for the water situation out there to have some fresh rains at last.

this shows the past 10 days at ORO Oroville:

The day started out at 45 degrees and damp, sprinkled all morning as winds picked up and temps dropped. There where a few big snow flakes in the mix mid afternoon. It is currently 17 degrees. Overnight low may be 13 degrees, with tomorrow's high in the mid 20's.

Rain...and rain and more rain. The bright side of all of that is that it forces me to attend to things in the house and it's also sounding wonderful on the tin roof! Also doing great things in the garden, compressing that thick layer of hay down to the soil and likely starting some very lovely composting.
