Its been all over the news out here about your, IL and such torrential rain.

last night it did not rain as much as i was afraid by looking at the radar. so that was good news, but it still put water over the road. the field across the road has drained off enough that you can see some dirt. it is still sprinkling now but nothing major.

what i'm irked about the most now is the roof leaked again...

wow, Edenville Dam breached, dunno about how the Sanford Lake Dam downstream is holding up (both dams are on the same river). one brother lives downstream from both. other brother called him and it didn't sound like they were going to evacuate.

i hope they do as it now looks like the 2nd dam is threatened.

as of this morning they're ok as they are on high enough ground by a few feet, so they didn't evac. i think they're crazy... i'd have been outta there... still can't tell if the 2nd dam is breached or not. it wouldn't have made that much difference yesterday as the water level on either side of the dam was about the same.

sunny today and dry for a few days at least. gives everything a chance to drain off and dry out a bit.

ok, yes, the 2nd dam looks breached, finally found a clear vid that looks like it was. what a mess...

That dam break made the national news - it looks bad. The reporter was broadcasting from Midland, was that area flooded?

it will take a while to drain as the area is pretty flat.

our area or Midland area? remember when you visited and the place we had the seed swap? that wasn't too far from flood zones.

our area is far enough away that we had only some local flooding from the heavy rains. right now the highway is closed so the traffic is routed around our closest small town where we do most of our shopping and the post-office and library are there. all the traffic is using our road/corner so it is unusual.

i'm not sure if the road is closed from damage or just the water being over the road.

we had water over the road here on Monday but everything is pretty much back to normal now that we've had a few days to dry out.

rains in the forecast for this weekend and into next week but so far not expecting anything major.

Well, it was hot here today. It was 90* in the shade with heat index of 99*. We do have rain in the forecast for the next several days. Hope we get a bit. Last rain we had was last weekend and it barely got to 1/2".

It is 80°f at the nearest international airport for the first time in 2020.

In 2 days, it is supposed to be well over 90°! Then, thunderstorms with an overnight temperature back in the 40's!!

What the Heck? Please, not too much of this sorta thing again this year ...

Another drencher here, a couple inches since this morning. I can't really complain though; the same front which went through today was stalled over NW Wisconsin for days. We are way above average for the year AGAIN... but at least there have been some longer dry spells, and a chance to get a few things planted early.

The AC is still running, and a possibility of frost in the northern part of the state? :idunno Crazy. No worries here, though.
