Ok the meteorologists and their writers are going crazy out West! Atmospheric River. Pineapple Express. Fireman's Hose.

What are unusual hip terms for weather in your area?

last week the word i hadn't heard in a while was "blustery".

as far as Pineapple Express after looking at the Pacific moisture radar animation i'd say they're dead on - a direct line from Hawaii to the West Coast.

Today it hit 70, very nice sunny almost no wind. Was not nice to drive in in our car, too hot already! Also got a crack in the front window.

we've been forecast for partly sunny and 70F today. i suspect i shall be in the gardens at least a few hours. rains last night may make for muddy times. a good reason to have two pairs of garden shoes.

sorry about the crack in the window. :( my one and only new car so far had a truck drop a large stone on the road in front of me and i had the unlucky bounce put a dent in the hood. some years later a power line came down across the car when it was parked and the power company dragged the line to remove it - scraped it pretty well. a few years after that i hit a deer and the hood was replaced. the whole car needed a good buff with some polishing compound or a new paint job by the time i sold it last year.

i found a good 2nd or 3rd use of the ziplock freezer bags. i wear them inside my garden shoes to keep the dirt out of my socks until i wear a hole through them. the normal 2nd use i get from most of them after they've been used for cookies is to keep them handy for when i buy anything smoked that goes in the fridge (i call 'em meat bags :) - i guess the 3rd use putting them on my feet they could still be called meat bags :) ).

Not many years after we moved to Oregon, I started in the 1st grade. Finding myself in a room full of kids my age I felt bold enuf to ask a question. "Doesn't it ever stop raining around here?"

The kid nearest me answered, "How should I know, I'm only 6 !?"

Sorry, @Rhodie Ranch ;). Ya know, the 2 state universities athletic teams are the Beavers and the Ducks ... and, nobody pays any attention to eastern Oregon ...

Hopefully, all that excess water will drain away soon with minimal damage.
