Enjoy the work. When you don't, time to down size.

Today, I finished weeding both gardens. So frustrating we are so dry, that okra, cukes, zucchini won't come up. Had to water too many plants.

seedcorn, I'd be happy to send you about 2" of this rain. It's drowning my peppers. They're turning yellow.

We are having a heat wave here. Today it was 84° so I made sandwiches for dinner and ate at the beach with the grandkids that we have for the weekend. It is so hot! We have no air conditioning and I keep forgetting to buy a fan since we don't have too many hot days.

He are having your heatwave here, Mary.

A new record for Monday looks like a lead pipe cinch.

Right now, the Weather Service is saying it will be 95°.

We had 90's last weekend, 60's now. Our main spring feature is lack of rain. I've been watering the dusty garden everyday, but the lawn is starting to get brownish patches.
They are promising an inch of rain tomorrow, so relief is in sight. I still have some direct seeding to do, and a whole hoop house to plant, but the tomato/pepper/eggplant house is looking great. I even put some peanuts in there! We'll see how they do.

No AC? Not even a fan? Wow. Lucky for us, the doublewide is very well insulated and our electric bill is very reasonable, even running the AC. We have ceiling fans in our bedroom, living and dining rooms. We even have 4 ceiling fans on the screened porch. Mary, you need to get a fan with the heat that you are not used to. If it is hot at night and you aren't comfortable for sleeping, spray mist the top sheet with water and turn the fan on. The evaporation of the water will cool you off. I have lived many times with no AC in Texas heat and that's what I did so I could sleep at night.

I sleep in flannel sheets year round. I do get rid of the down coverlet when it gets really hot, like in the 60's at night. Haha. We have big windows and box fans so it's comfortably chilly at night and I need those flannel sheets!

Oh how nice. Now I don't feel so bad having flannel sheets year round. haha
