Weed love a little help

I appreciate the input. I think it will work for my purposes, as I’m not trying to grow out of season, but get a little earlier start. I put my rosemary in there a month ago and it’s been just enough protection from wind and frost to keep it alive. It definitely freezes in there overnight, I put a container of water in to see. It warms up surprisingly fast once the sun comes up but ice was on top so I will need to be choosy with plants and dates.
It’ll be a good spot for my chick brooder, out of the wind so I don’t have to smell ‘em

OMGosh! I have raised baby chicks on the front porch--NO.MORE. since I have taken the time to paint it, brought in a lovely glass bistro table, been gifted 4 lovely metal blue bistro Chairs, and thrown nice outside rugs on it.
I have also started chicks in the basement in my "used to be fuel oil" "fuel room", where we never opened the north facing window. STINKY!!!
I even reared the 3 kittens (now almost 8yo) in a crate in the LR, but I had the crate on rugs, used towels (my stash for floor cleaning NOT for my showers!) for the kittens. Kittens catch on Really fast to a litter box, and once they could do the stairs to the basement they figured that one out and no upstairs cat accidents.
ALL inside areas are now verBoten to birds!
I had no idea that duck poo would mess up your garden soil!
Good to know.

It was never an issue when we just had Mr Magoo (Heathen’s blind duck) and his two buddies but the 20 that were foisted on us have pooped so much in there the top of soil is slick, duckydoo concrete.

Very nice @peteyfoozer. I live one zone lower than you and have a little greenhouse. It was only ever for extending the season front and back, as you are going to do, and it definitely works. I find the biggest help is without it I had to truck trays of plants into house every night when there was still frost risks, now that I have a hothouse I can just tuck them in there. Not near as far a walk or bother. I do mostly peppers in there in the summer (once all my other transplants are in the ground), and it does really help keep your plants alive so much longer. It is surprising what a fully mature plant can handle in one of those deep into October.

I just want to thank everyone for taking time to respond to anything. If you didn’t know, I am extremely isolated here, several hours from nearest town, no family, no neighbors or friends within a 14 hr drive. For obvious reasons bo one visits and Randy is off working during all daylight hours, including weekends, so my online friends are my only people interactions, except when we drive 4 hr to Dr and do errands. Just want you to know I really enjoy and appreciate you.
Sometimes things we totally take for granted can make a huge impact in someone else’s day. God bless you!

@peteyfoozer I totally get living out in the country can be very isolating in SE Oregon. A area very remote and less populated than western Oregon.
I did not know that eastern Oregon where your home is located was so limited to access to medical, shopping and neighbors. More populated areas of Oregon and Washington live west of the cascades due to the extreme difference in climate in eastern Oregon. Also happy you have a support dog and the internet to stay in touch with the world.
Internet support is so important and now that I know your circumstances I will be here any time . Besides , we have that dog thing in common loving the breeds that take care of us that bring so much joy and happiness.

Thanks! We live out on the Alvord, 2 hr E of Burns, which as I’m sure you know, is so small, it’s better for us to drive the 3 3/4 hr to Nampa, ID to shop. The ranch covers 250,000 acres so yeah, long way from everything

Oh yes the Alvord desert. At some point Idaho has tried to change the eastern border because proponents argue that the rural eastern counties have more in common with Idaho, and are not adequately represented by Oregon state representatives. Lots of cattle ? Are you near the Alvord hot springs?
