Weehaw! Berries are blooming!

Tay, Boysen,Logan, Dew, Ursinus, and Burbank thornless are all in various stages of beginning to bloom. Black satin's flowers are done with clusters of little green berries forming. I am so excited. I know, this year will only be enough for a good sampling, but I'm also getting a grip on when each one blooms, and how, what part of the growth. Boysen seems to have flowers on new growth off of an old cane and off a new cane too.

Indian summer, fall gold, Navajo, Laciniatus, and the local thimble have not yet bloomed.

Isn't it exciting, Marshall! Ours are blooming, too, and I think our Black Satins are growing little bitty berries! Our berries are young - planted last year - so we are waiting impatiently for them to get huge so we have tons of delicious berries. Way too fun!!!

Navajo Thornless Blackberry is starting to bloom now, Black Satin made another cluster of flowers, that wild thimbleberry made a few flowers so far. Real small pale flowers on them. I sure hope it's a female plant. If not it comes out. I found one that is definitely female in the woods nearby. It would be the replacement. Ya know, I'm not sure if it is actually a Thimbleberry or a Salmonberry. They don't fit either description perfectly. Indian Summer has some tiny buds starting, and I actually think I see one on the fall gold. Not expected to see anything on it this year. I just got it, and it was a small 4 inch stick with roots just a few months ago. I don't really expect any from Laciniatus this year either. Happy to report Laciniatus is growing well and vigorous. It was a scrawny side of the road plant that probably got run over 10 times a day when I dug it up. I'm guessing, but I think it'll be like Ursinus, she'll make flowers on side shoots from year old canes.

Boysenberry is still blooming like crazy! Burbank Thornless is taking her time to open her flowers, so is Ursinus. Those two are going to make a show when they do open!
