The problem with waterbags and 5 gallon buckets is they have to be filled. The water is not 17 wide, that is the measurement from one bank to other bank. When I built the bridge I layed across 2 20 foot 4 by 4s for base.
Your bridge span is less than my 46" creek span ... I used a 1 1/2" PVC pipe layed undergrount from the my well to the creek , then I used a 1 1/4" iron pipe to span the creek above ground level by 3', ( install shut off valves on both sides and install faucets there too as they are qite handy to attach a hose to ) then back underground for the next 900' with 1 1/4" PVC pipe to get water to waterers in to barn and pastures. Since you already have the bridge, just attach the pipe to the bridge high enough to drain that pipe in the winter time to prevent freezing.

I get it now. You are also worried about keeping the watering going while you are in town. That is certainly different from how to get water to the orchard. You need to keep a supply there and have it working when you can't. Bobm's idea is much like mine only easier and cheaper. Good thinking @bobm!
