Everything is doing exceptionally well! I love the branch trellis, I tried that this year and it kept falling over. I finally gave up and got bamboo and help from my MIL to get it up.

You are definitely well ahead of me in the size of your plants, I am yet to see flowers on the squash or cukes here.

I did notice the same thing you did this year. I am actually YET to see a hummingbird. None to my feeder, and the mimosa has no activity around it. Usually the hummers like to nest in the mimosa so they get here early to fight for the best spots for their nests. I am a bit concerned?! :/

This is my dream garden...So beautiful and robust.

In the third picture, what is the plant in the front? Zucchini?

Beautiful, the cuke beetles are bad this year for sure, and squash bugs. I'm trying an experiment I read about for them I interplanted w/ radish and am letting it go to seed supose to confuse especailly the cuke beetle :fl

Yes, that is one of my zucchini beds.
Three black zuc plants in the front, and three yellow zuc plants on the backside of the bed.

We set a T-post and then leaned the tree branches around it, securing w/ wire. It's very stable! :)

SweetMissDaisy, I just love looking at your pictures. You have inspired me with your troughs and now I am looking for one. The problem is that I have no room! Everything looks so healthy. That sure seems like alot of squash! Hope you get cucumbers.

The rain Texas has been getting is missing us. Thankfully we're getting a break from the heat from the nearby clouds, though. But the rain is either a little to the west, a little to the east, or a bit to the south, or right smack over Dallas -- the concrete jungle.

Last week we had 3 days where we were supposed to get 5+ hours of 100% chance of rain. Every bit of it split and went around us, and we got nada. It sucks big time. Our area is still considered in drought. We have cracks in the soil nearly 1" wide. UGH.

We're hoping for a few good hurricanes to send more clouds our way.

Sweet Miss Daisy, your tree trellis did inspire me! I made one today. I am sure mine is a very poor imitation, but it is pretty cool anyway.

I'll try to take photos of it tomorrow. My garden is a good 6 weeks or more behind yours.

My other trellis that I have been calling the prototype just happens to be similar to your other one. I will be making several more, and each will be different.
