Well, we're blaming the parents, but the parents may be oblivious. I've known kids to sneak out windows and back doors and get into all sorts of mischief, without the parents suspecting a thing.
A psychologist once told me that modern houses, with the parents' "suite" on one end of the house, and the kids' bedrooms on the other (or another floor) is the cause of a lot of teen "running wild" and such. It just is a set up for trouble. Add that to the fact that teenagers' biological clocks are different from ours, and they are wide awake and ready to rumble when the parents are headed for bed.

Ooh, I am remembering some of the things my youngest son did. Nothing like getting that phone call in the middle of the night from the cops, when you thought the kid was asleep downstairs.
