...along with HUGE hail, terrible wind (stuff blew from one side of the farm to the other, lifted part of the garage roof off...).

And DANG IT, two of my BEST looking tomatoes got their primary stems snapped completely OFF!! ACK!!!!! The tomatoes are planted in front of the chicken house, which acts and a GREAT wind break from strong, HOT southern winds. But this storm came at us from the NORTH, so my chicken house windbreak didn't save them.

There were tornado warnings all around us, rotation in the clouds, and there were several touch downs in a town about 9 miles from us.

I posted photos here:

And a video here (you will see the big hail we got, my sad tomato and other garden plants, and lots of critters):

I think Mother Nature is testing me...

Wow! Sorry about your poor tomatoes! I've never seen hail that size before. :ep I got a kick out of the soaked rooster and the calf running in circles was too cute. Glad you didn't have any worse damage than that. :hugs

OUCH !!!

Yes, I'm surprised the silly rooster managed to get soaked but not killed!

So sorry about the plants, Daisy! Maybe most of them will pull thru . . ?

(Good looking Dexter cattle ;).)

Good grief!! Mother nature is just not in a cooperative mood! I guess when we wish for rain, we should say "a nice gently rain!" Glad you are okay...

Snow... ha!!
I just got a note from my Dad, and he said it's snowing at his place right now, too!!
He's just 50 miles north of Spokane, WA ... what CRAZY weather!!
well, you will know where he is ... just outside of Newport.

I am trying to salvage the tops of the tomato plants that got broken ... I'm guessing they got smacked pretty good by hail, since the two plants next to them are totally fine! I've got the tops tucked into some good potting soil, so hopefully they take root and I can nurture them enough to provide some fruit for us. I just can't believe it .... of course it had to be the two best plants that got hit... DRATS!

As for the calves, THANKS! I'd let you pay me to have one live at your house! :p

And, as for the goofy rooster ... not sure why he didn't get behind the chicken house with the others ... he'd have stayed completely dry! The wind blew the rain well beyond the back wall of the coop, and left the ground behind there dry. I guess he's not the smartest. He probably stood at the front door, waiting for it to open.

Snow...oh my. That is hard for me to remember right now. We skipped spring here and went right straight into WV summer--hot and humid!

Summer heat... I think I may remember that...
We did have an absolutely glorious weekend, blue sky from horizon to horizon, around 60*, sunshine...I even took a nap on the lawn, with the dog,...so it was, er, short.
