What about ivy?

Ohhhhhh, OK I see where you're at now. You're more SE than straight east (I was thinking off I20).

Hey, you're not THAT far from me! Maybe one day ya'll can plan a weekend get-away....come up here, camp out, BBQ, you and I can act like silly schoolgirls and go giggling over all the garden stuff around here.....maybe do a bonfire....heaven knows we have the dead woodpiles for it! LOL

Sounds like a blast, Crystal! :D

As to the ivy, i planted my two longest vines (are they still called vines when they're ivy?) on either side of the satellite tree and loosely wrapped them around the trunk and tucked them under a piece of twine i had wrapped around it earlier.

Now if Jelly (the dog) will refrain from digging it up, we'll be in business. I can't wait to see what happens!!!!
:weee :weee :weee :weee :weee :weee :weee :weee :weee

Then after i see how it does, i'll see about picking a real tree for it to adorn.

What grand fun!

Maybe there can be pictures later today or tomorrow.

I would take that long vine and make as many plants out of it as you can. Wrapping it around the tree won't make it grow up.
it works better if the small plant finds the tree and climbs it on it's own.

I have a bunch of pictures I just took to show you. Give me a few minutes to work on them and I will post.

Joe

Thank you Cristal, that is kind of you! :bouquet

Here is one just starting to grow up my White Grapefuit tree.

That vine is from this window box. it grew down to the ground and made it's way to the tree and started to grow up it.

Here is the vine I was talking about . It is reacing all the way back to the ground.

Here you can see it starting up my wall in the front of the house.

These fellas also like to climb. They are called Arrowhead , but when they get up the tree a little they start to look different.
I have always known them as Tri Leaf Wonder.

That's gorgeous, Joe! Thanks!

I will work on making more cuttings to plant outside. I don't want to let my insiders get too thin. I really enjoy them in my kitchen window. I may go get more cuttings from my mil. Her plant looks like a an alien - it's HUGE!

If you take tip cuttings from yours they will get thicker!
All you need is the growing tip and one set of leaves to cut off.
They grow much better then a long cutting.

I hope you see what I'm saying there. ;)

Message received. You're saying i did it wrong. ;)

I will have to see about some switcherooing later on. Would you say i could just snip them, stick them in the ground, and water? 'Cause that's probably what i'm going to do.

You can put them in the ground but this time of the year they may not do to well. you can just start a glass full of them on a window sill.
They will do well in water for some time!
