What age do chickens begin to lay?

The chickens are laying. They are producing pretty brown eggs. Slowly getting larger. Some are even double yolked. :) Here they are with a store bought egg for comparison. About 5 0r 6 a day.

Carol, do you have those eggs marked for a reason? They look like they may have numbers or something?

Yes Mary, My son wrote the dates on the eggs so he would use the oldest 1st. Smart Kid. (wonder where he got that?) ;)

I am glad they are laying, but just for future reference: It took 2 of my silkies 11 months to start laying!! I thought they were sterile and had given up on them.
