truth be told, dw double canned this year, so we both go up and visit her family in new york next year. been thinking of letting all the gardens rest for a year and just plant cover/biomass crops on them. what the heck might get back into fixing up the house a bit...

We are not having any veggie gardens next year and maybe never. I may have to buy things to can. That is so against my grain....but I will try it...

I have enough for 3 years without canning but would have nothing left then. So I will buy and can at my leisure and when I find sales...I am going to miss my gardens.....But my flower gardens will continue...

We have 2 veggie gardens one 30X40 and one 40X60. We put them in last spring and then I broke my arm and leg. I was out of commission for the whole summer. My hubby was burdened with 2 garden tours of about 40 people and the veggie gardens. By the end of the summer the tomato plants were not staked and everything was under an ocean of weeds...It's actually is scary to be reaching into those weeds.

The back and bigger garden will be turned into a pheasant run.. There will be individual runs for we have many kinds of trios. The up garden which is smaller will become a screened in butterfly garden.

I am still layed up so we are getting a very late start on all these thing, but by mid spring we will be ready for butterflies, running pheasants and 2 more garden tours......

Not having my veggie gardens will not stop me from canning foods....I just like the idea that I never use pesticides or chemicals at all in my gardens...

majorcatfish, You just never know what is living in those thick weeds. Wood rats, ground hogs, shakes. Now I really don't mind all these things but once I grabbed an animal in the each that I thought was a potato....It wiggled....very startling....LOL I like to see where I am reaching.....
