Oh Ack!! I was just getting on here to edit that! The seed packet was still in the envelope on the buffet and not with my regular stash. So, sorry to crush your dream Major, but I'm still in the running. I'll send you some toast from my new toaster though.

You're so thoughtful, but no need for the New Yorkers Alex, Major shared some of his.
I also forgot to put down the Dragon gourds that you sent a while back for the boys. They need 125 days so I'll have to start them early, like yesterday!

salt and pepper cukes are out of the world as long as you get them picked before they get to big
natacha is truly a chicory it wonderful in salads and soups
diplomat melon will ripen all at once... stagger planting
phoenix tomato are bred for long hot summers...."tomato growers supply company"
honey bear..stagger planting wonderful taste, great for stuffing

here's a couple suggestions......

yankee bell pepper..early,blocky,meaty great for stuffing.

highlander....kind of a long season plant,prolific,best picked when fire engine red or green and fire roast them excellent for chile rellenos,tacos. can be froze, great in hash browns or any dish calls for green chiles... just a whisper of heat outstanding flavor.

black summer bok choi.... if you like to cook asian dishes you will like this, heck it's a cabbage it goes in all most anything. best cooked al dente.

if you or anyone else has a question will be glad to share my experiences..

I have Salt and Pepper cukes, Natacha, Diplomat, Yankee Bell Pepper, Highlander, Black summer bok choi in cart at Johnny's. Still looking around. Went through my seeds and decided what I did not like last year. I am going to be more selective because of space. Thank you for all the suggestions!

very tame and pretty much the usual when it comes down to garden veggies:

beefsteak tomatoes, onions, dill, green and red peppers, wax beans, peas, pickling cucumbers, squash and whatever room i have left will get the lima beans, scarlet runner beans and whatever else kind of beans i can poke in places. probably another year of 50 - 100 varieties/selections/trials.

hope strawberry season is better this year.

for fill and cover in some places i use turnips, radishes and buckwheat.

i still have plenty of green garlic to get out of a large area and of course have last falls planted garlic i'll harvest some time in the mid-summer.

I started White Sweet Spanish, Walla Walla, Alisa Craig onions, Giant Musselburg leeks, Georgia Southern collards, Vates collards, Greyhound and Early Jersey Wakefield cabbage, Black kale, Red winter kale, Dwarf Blue curled and Portuguese kale. They are in the greenhouse in the kitchen. Only thing new are the leeks.

do recommend using a large tomato cage and flagging tape for the highlander peppers....

yankee bells
you will get 2-3 good size pickings after that they start getting smaller.

I have started using cheap tomato cages upside down for a lot of stuff produce and floral in my garden.

I nip the stakes off the "bottom" and then I nip off the "top" most ring to create new stakes.

I'll let you know how it goes when the plants get larger. Right now they're still 4" pot size.
