Today I planted some wheat in the garden as a cover crop for Fall. I always plant a cover crop in the spring but this is my first time doing it for the fall, hope it wasn't too late to plant. You really shouldn't leave an area of the planting beds bare through the winter as it gets exposed to the cold and snow etc. I had an area in my garden that I harvested potatoes from weeks ago so I used up that available space for a cover crop, I just hope it gets some growth before old man winter is playing in the garden.
Then come spring I get too dig in all that organic matter thats been on top of the soil all winter and mix it in the soil. It should enrich the soil and give me a head start for next season :tools .
