Mom started Mater and pepper seeds in paper cups until I could get the garden tilled and ready. She would have planted some more but managed to cut her finger badly enough to need stitches.
Good News. I got the garden tilled with my little electric soil blender (has anyone heard of those?) I got a nice space tilled up. Tomorrow starts the real fun.

I now have broccoli, cauliflower, and spinach seedlings in the ground, and beets, radishes, carrots, and snow pea seeds planted. I am experimenting with cold frames here, so we'll see how it goes.

I noticed today I have lost 3 out of 9 tomato plants in my garden :( That's ok... I still have 15 plants in the house, and 4 on the deck. I only had room for perhaps 6 more, now I have room for 9. The rest I must give away!

SO I went out and transplanted my snap dragons, some blanket flowers, 5 cone flowers, 1 foxglove, 1 Glory Vine, and 3 calendula. I still have at least 50 more plants to transplant, but I only have room for 3 more in the raised bed I'm working on.

I also realized after my strawberry order, that the raised bed hubby put in tonight is only big enough for 25 plants and not 50!

It's time for me to finish designing the rest of the beds for the back yard I was hoping to hold off on until next fall. ARGH!

Today I planted peas, lettuce and spinach seeds out in the garden.
I found volunteer onions, a potato sprout and garlic! I just love seeing anything green this time of year. lol
I also planted some iris tubers that I dug out last fall and were sprouting in the garage. :thumbsup

Last week I started my tomato, pepper and eggplant seeds indoors. The tomatos are sprouting!
I can't wait until I can get something out in the garden!

I never started borccoli from seed before, always bought plants. These sprouts are the most spindly things I've ever seen. Is that normal for broccoli?
