Ladies and Gents: its a bitch getting old.

See these pics? I scooped out the squash, put them on a plate, swearing that I'd remember what they are. Darn it all.......
I labeled three yogurt containers of flower seeds that went into the refrigerator for stratification. What does PCF stand for? I have no idea anymore.

I hate getting old!
My guess is 'Pumpkin - Connecticut Field'?

so that means we're kinda the borg here? :)

the way brains can work sometimes i'm pretty sure we can be bits of the borg. cuttings or clones? plant propagation? plant Poppa Nation?

i'm cloning chunks of creeping thyme this past week and for the next time when i get back out into the north garden. it takes a year or two to get fully spread out again, but it sure looks nice when it gets filled in.

i'm not planting anything today, but i am daydreaming of planting something and pondering the end of melon season and listening to the rain hitting the roof again. i almost fell asleep for a nap after shelling some beans and needed to rest my hands, then Mom stuck her head in the room and said she was going to take a nap so she woke me up good with that.

so i said, gee it must be time for a few bites of chocolate and some sort of TEG posting and thinking about whatever else comes to mind.

now, this thread needs a bit of a bump so i'll do that with this post and then i'll wander off to read more about computer graphics and ponder how i can implement my next bit of code which has been stewing in my brain for a few weeks now. still not quite ready, but at least getting closer...

It just stopped snowing a couple hours ago, and rain expected this week - so no chance of cultivating here any time soon. :caf

The only things I've planted indoors so far are onions (which are up & growing) and old pepper seed (Aji Dulce) which appears to be dead. The two lost years in the rural garden are taking their toll on seed viability. For the first time, I'm germination testing everything, to identify what needs greater TLC, and to avoid unpleasant surprises when the growing season begins. The results thus far are disheartening, quite a bit of seed with 5-10% germination. :(

I will probably be able to save almost all of the older seed, but that will entail a major increase in time, space, and resources over a normal growing season. There are 7 soybean varieties alone in need of rescue, each of which will require a full tray. My goal this year is to do whatever necessary to avoid failures, so I can (hopefully) move closer to being caught up on my grow outs. That, and find time for all of the new trials. It's going to be a busy year... :th
