Columbines were one of my top favorite perennials from last year...I had several new kinds bloom for the first time.

Cimicifuga …hands down. The sweet fragrance can call everyone to look for the flower perfuming the garden.
A lovely soft scent.
I had never heard of these before...the dark-leafed ones are gorgeous!

I've never heard of Cimicifuga either-- will have to keep an eye out for these intriguing plants. Looks like a long stratification if propagating from seed; they say seeds can take up to one year to germinate. Wow. 😲

i've heard it under the other common name for it for many years (black cohosh) as it came up when talking to some of my female friends who would try it for help with menopause symtoms.
