I like to harvest leaves and flower buds just before them open :). Rinsed and then hung out of the sunlight for a few days - the little bunches can then be stored in a bag. I like to use the waxed bags from the pharmacy. I've never tried to freeze it but lemon verbena works so well frozen I may attempt it with the anise hyssop this time.

The lemon verbena plant has never tried to bloom for me. But, that may be because I harvest the tips after the anise hyssop is available and that sets it back. Still, lots of flavor to a lemon verbena :). Best choice for a stand-alone tea herb from my garden but it is doubly nice with the licorice flavor of the anise hyssop (Agastache foeniculum).

Steve :)

Thanks Steve , DH and I have a very large patch of mint (Peppermint we think.) and A chocolate mint patch that is expanding FAST.
We do enjoy the herbal teas and have jars of dried mint put away for winter. I am excited about adding the Hyssop and think Sis may have some lemon verbena I can snag ;)
