I watered the pole beans I planted yesterday and the kale, cabbage and cauliflower. I weeded the cabbage and kale and mulched with old rabbit bedding. I found dill coming up between the kale, so that is mulched too. I weeded the spinach and lettuce.

Yesterday, I planted beans from Blue Jay and from Baymule. It finally dried out enough, and warmed up enough, to feel OK about planting beans. I had to put netting over the strawberries, to keep the birds from taking a bite out of each one, as they ripen. Today I hope to thin out the spinach, plant cukes and get the weed eater out. At least the grass is growing around the garden and chicken fences!

I cleaned the area around my fountain where the calla lillies are. I transplanted two of them. I also trimmed the bamboo that was starting to block my path behind the chicken coop. Also, trimmed the path in the shadey garden so that the kids could walk through it. Planted some more kentucky wonder pole beans.

Planted some more Basil, Spicy Globe variety. I was at the local Mom & Pop gardening store today and it had a nice smell.

Also dug in the dirt. I've got the rows ready to plant sweet potatoes but my plan is to go back out there after supper digests a bit and plant four more rows of sweet corn. I don't know if I'll get that and the sweet potatoes both in tonight or not.

Editted: Yep, just four 20' long rows of corn.

Finished the re-tilling in the big veggie garden, prepped some ground for marigolds and set out some strawflowers and celosia!

Got a little green bean and sweet corn seed planted and set out some pumpkin, squash, melon, & cucumbers. Yes, it's that time of the year!

Some of the tomatoes will go out tomorrow. If I lose this stuff, there is still plenty of depth to the bench. I don't like those 1am drives out to the garden to run sprinklers to try to stop the damage from frost. Or, making that run at sunset with every dang bucket I can lay my hands on!

This is the time but better than half the years, I'm making those desperate drives.
