[Gardening with Rabbits]

A few days ago I transplanted some bok-choy, planted peas, and took several days to recover from the soreness. I have all my seedlings transplanted now. I did plant blue potatoes a couple of weeks ago. Today, I planted 2 short rows of potatoes, one white, one red. I planted just a small amount of Swiss chard, parsley and cilantro seeds. Yesterday, I cut chives and brought in the first of the asparagus for supper. Also, the neighbors are moving, the yard where the rabbits came from. They said I could have the rhubarb. I dug up 2 big crowns and added to my yard and gave one to a neighbor and another to a friend at church.

Today we got all the paths filled, lifted the edges of the ones that had sank and filled THAT with the clay/sand that we're putting between the paths. I lined 2 beds with paper bags that needed to be filled, and then filled them to almost the top with compost. I've got 2 more beds that need lined and filled and then 1 bed that needs just a little compost and I'm trying to decide if I want more compost in my herb bed or not.

Last night we ordered our new 2-n-1 pear tree from Stark Bros because we were told by our Master Gardener that it wasn't able to be saved. I'm really sad about that because we planted it when we first moved in. But, nothing I can do about a broken pear tree, so, no use being upset over it.

I planted the last of the bok-choy seedlings in the garden, weeded the strawberries, planted the hollyhocks seedlings I started from seed. I planted some oregano plants I started that have been out in the sawhorse greenhouse. I took all the tomatoes to the sawhorse greenhouse. I transplanted some mustard seedlings, sowed all my Swiss chard seeds, cilantro and some parsley seeds.

Thursday we spent the day moving the hoop coop off the garden. It may not sound like a day-long project, but it is. A big heavy coop that we must pull with a tractor after removing all the chickens and everything else chicken-related.

DH had planned to use the tractor to till the garden, but it sunk right out of sight and we had to use another tractor to pull it out.

Today I just tilled 3 rows by hand and put in peas and fava beans, along with a few greens that I had started indoors. I am a week late, but it was only recently that the snow retreated. In fact, you can still see it in the woods just beyond the yard.

It is going to rain this weekend, but I hope to get the onions out of the house sometime soon.

I got the last 17 varieties of beans planted today in the drizzling rain.

Worked on middle section, last bed of main garden. Got it dug to the bottom, and a little base soil started in it.

Did a bunch of chores around the area, getting things ready for campers and boaters.

Then I reorganized my cans of beans, getting them ready and prioritized for the second planting.

Then I sat here and typed this...

Oh, between the chores I got a chill in the rain so came inside for a one hour or so nap.

This is not loading 1st try. About 7:54 pm, so I'll try posting it again in an hour or so.

And I am sorting through this bit of the pond today. I will collect the snowdrops for propogation and give a load away to fellow gardeners.

I planted spinach and lettuce plants with carrots seeds to take their place. Should have done more planting, but worked cleaning the shade garden instead. Yesterday I walked miles putting down fertilizer. Got 60,000 square feet worth of weed 'n feed down in time for a week of rain that is predicted. That's why the carrots went in. Rain for that long should go far to get them germinated and growing strong.

I transplanted my sunflowers in new containers, I covered them till they only had an two inches or less exposed, so hopefully no more of them will fall over and die on me I lost a total 9 and I think two more won't make it but I tried.
I also transplanted the rest of my lettuce, and broccoli into the garden.
