Got my Buff Rock chicks this morning. 20 male chicks were shipped from Ideal yesterday and were at the post office this morning. They are now enjoying my brooder in the coop.

Lucky- You could really plant outside in your zone?

I had never planted anything outside this early, but a friend was saying she plants her peas about this time every year, so I thought "what the heck?" I planted them on Tuesday, when it was about 55 degrees out. If they get nipped, not too big a loss. But if they live! What a triumph! I will revel in my fresh snap peas! :weee

I have cabbage, kale, Tom Thumb lettuce, bok-choy up in the greenhouse and onions planted but not up, and I planted spinach and radishes in the ground. I uncovered the garlic today because it was heavy and wet, and the garlic is up. Turned dirt in the garden and worms close to the top. Some kind of bugs flying around in the air. The rhubarb is coming through the ground. I think the comfrey plant is too, and I saw some parsley and the chives.

Oh boy!

I need to look at the chives. I don't think there has been any growth yet. They will be my first veggie "crop." Think of adding some chopped green onions to your scrambled eggs. Go out and get about twice that. Chopped, they cook quickly and are mild.

It's still mild weather we are having here, in this corner of the US. Records this week, now in the high 50's! Supposed to be 55°f again, tomorrow. I've begun digging postholes for replacing the fence. So yeah, I've got holes!

I gave you a 'like' anyway...because I am ahead of you, my garden is all cleaned out and ready to go...frozen under a foot of snow, but it's clean, so haha...

All I have going so far is a Valentine date at my favorite nursery. No bouquets or chocolates, just lots of big bags of soil...:celebrate, and maybe more seeds! Will probably get some peppers and herbs going this weekend.
