Here are some pics of the damage...if I uploaded them correctly :/

I am continuing to check the leaves different times throughout the day and still nothing obvious...at least to me (a rookie!)

My beans have their growing tips eaten(?) up. There are no holes in the leaves.

I have observed a fly of some type on the leaves. It has its rear end stuck in the leaf, depositing eggs, I guess. The fly will not move when touched; it sticks like glue.

I have attached a photo of the fly and in the lower foreground is a damaged area.

Can someone help me identify the pest? I've googled bean insect pests images but have found nothing that looks like this.

Thanks.

Sandy, looking at the holes in the leaves it looks like it might be earwig damage. Take a a small can, paper cup, stuff some damp paper towel in and leave it by the bean plants tonight, check in the morning you might find the little culprits hiding there.

Might be a night-feeder. Check with a flashlight way after dark. Do you have any Spinosad to spray them with?

Bean leaf beetles do that in soybeans everywhere. Looks worse than it is.
