What is Wrong with my Daylilies?

I bought these lilies...they looked REALLY pretty. I planted them and got two gorgeous blooms. Now they are turning yellow. I watered every day for the first week while they took root and have started watering every 2 or 3 days, a really good soaking. Any ideas? They are in full sun with my mums.

The mulch is old mulch...probably from last year. It's more a dark brown, but it has just rained so it looks black. The lilies are in the back.

Stunning new daylily. I have the same problem with some etablished lilies. I thought this summers weather was the problem. Anxious to hear what others have to say. Do you recal the color name of these? Here are two new ones I have (Forgot the names already! )

Mine have already bloomed & dropped their dead blossoms; the leaves are also turning yellow, but I assumed it's because of the hot, dry weather. But I'm no expert on lilies. :/

Same here - I am not concerned, they don't seemed to be diseased or anything. Just wait until next year and see how they do.

Hello, I am new here. Found this web site on the Internet and upon investigating it I like what I see.
About the wilting Daylilies, I can't give any advice on that either I have been always very fortunate with my Hemerocallis. I agree with some of the posters, it must be the weather. Either too much rain? or to dry? Different areas suffer from either too much or too little this year.

I had a big dissappointment however with my Oriental Lilies in that they were visited by the "Red Lily Beetle". It is not pretty what this red beetle can do. I searched the Internet about this pest and found out that this Beetle is a relative newcomer to our hemisphere and comes from Asia. And for the remedy? All that was suggested is to spray with a Soap Spray and besides that collect them on a daily basis and destroy. I would have send a picture of a affected Oriental Lily but I have to get used on the "how to" sending images first.

Anyone else having had problems with their Asian Lilies? (Thankfully the Red Beetle does NOT like Daylilies)

1/4 cup dawn dish soap per gallon of water. soak the plant and bugs down with a spray bottle. wait five minutes. rinse off plants with clean water. Please try it. I promise it works. Its so easy that you'll never worry about bugs again. It kills ALL insects that i have tried it on, even giant squash bugs.

Thank you, Sunsaver, for that fantastic 'recipe'on how to make bug spray. I have been using dishsoap and water in a small spray bottle before but your big batchmix makes a lot of sense.

In my experence Day lillies once they have bloomed tend to start dying back...

with the 'new ' red bettle it is a nasty beast it will eat your lily down to a nub if you dont keep on top of it... not only the beetle but their larva which incases it self in its own excretment... I lost my lillies the first year they showed up I had no idea what it was...
chickens wont eat these beetles....safer soap spray...
