No, just there are other spots that have started as well. It's not like they can apply Drano and flush all the plaque out. Wish they could as hi cholesterol runs in my family along with some other equal killing genetic problems.......
I'm on Meds but have to watch for kidney/renal problems.... One way or another, death is going to get me.....
@seedcorn my husband's father died of a heart attack at 68, his sister at 58, his grandmother at 62 and neither of his two brothers made it past 56. His mother lived to 93. I try to keep him healthy. I figured I'd get 10 years with him, in February it'll be 20! Hopefully we'll have many more years together.
Yep...luck of the draw. We've all seen those folks who abuse their bodies horribly and live into their 90s and those who take every care and die young of a laundry list of issues.
After 20 yrs as a nurse I've seen it all and I never recommend folks get tested for cholesterol levels, especially past a certain age...it just opens up a huge can of worms that get out and lead to other problems that are way worse than clogged arteries. The meds for treating it are far worse and more deadly to the body than the cholesterol.
There is a theory that one's cholesterol is high as a defense against some other disfunction in the body; that it actually fights for your health. Theoretically, if you lower it unnaturally, you may be taking away a vital weapon. I can't remember for sure, but it might be Westin A Price followers that has put this idea forth.
I agree, tho, Bee, if you start getting things checked when you are not sick, there's no telling what can of worms you will open. Obviously, with Bay's DH's family history, he needed to get checked.
Not to be contrary but without testing and corrective action, I'd be dead. Yes, there are side affects that have to be monitored. I've had to switch Meds a few times. A few times, I went completely off to allow body to adjust. Family histories are not to be ignored.
Because g'ma and Mom died of colon cancer, I get tested and polips get cut out. I will die but I'd like to cheat death as long as I can.
