Try 2 or 3 beds to start with. You don't want to overload yourself and get discouraged. Also know that every gardener, no matter how many years of experience, has failures. The good part about that is you can plant again. You might want to start with buying started plants. They usually come in 4 packs or 6 packs. I have always bought started broccoli plants, this is my first year to plant seed and so far, it is looking good!
Hi baymule,

I'm a newbie. I planted a very small plot of carrot seeds 3 days ago. I am keeping them moist by watering in the early and late day. In your opinion about how long do you think until I see any sprouts, if any at
all? I live in Central Florida. I used Miracle Grow Potting Soil for the ground. And I haven't added any manure yet.

Thank you,

Niki Law

Howdy Niki,
The Carrot seeds will take awhile to sprout. They are slow sprouting. You might see one in 10 days, but more likely 14 at the soonest. 3 weeks is when most of them should sprout. Avoid the temptation to put more seeds in. Carrot seeds sprout slowly and unevenly.
