@Nyboy , apparently I used to like tripe when I was a child when having it at grandma's, but when I was older you couldn't get me to touch it, went into the kitchen once while it was cooking, stinky! Octopus I had at a fancy restaurant, left a odd taste in my mouth after eating it. Had mussels too, DH likes them I don't. To me bear has a similar to beef taste but sweeter and the meat is a little courser.

I've not had bear, but I do have a jar of bear grease in the pantry, compliments of one of the neighbors. I've read that bear tastes like what they've been eating (true for everything I suppose) and the best bear is one harvested during berry ripening.
The worst is a bear that's been eating on salmon during the spawn.

Ringdove, my brother brought from hunting. Rare muck!
Okroshka, kvass soup. I Love! There is not exotic. But I do not know, it eats someone else besides us.

Coon is pretty greasy, especially if they've been raiding the corn crop and are fat and sassy from it. Groundhog is the same. I'm sure they would be different if prepared other than rolling in flour and frying, which is just how most meat is eaten out here in the hills.

Squirrel is better in a gravy than fried.

I'm allergic to shellfish, much to my dismay, so I can't try many of the things from the ocean. I'm none too adventurous when it comes to eating, so it's likely I wouldn't try certain questionable things unless I was needing it to stay alive.

I would try dog and horse if it were butchered well and prepared pleasingly and I wouldn't mind trying bear...they say it's much like mutton.

With you on eating horse as they would at least have a purpose for being a hay burner..... Dog, NO WAY! MAN's best friend.

@thistlebloom since I am most definetly NOT a girl, I have no qualms at eating a horse. Mom always said I could eat a horse in trying to fill me up.....
