I tinkered on appliances and other household items over the years . Now DW usually replaces things that head south around here without telling me. She got tired of duct taped toasters and mixers lol. She consults "tells" me when it is larger purchase. In fact about a week ago the range on our stove went on the fritz. I could not figure out what the heck was up with it probably the panel with the brains of the unit inside, but I just put it back together and told her to find a new one. Now she seems real happy about that lol, she loves to cook so a good stove is a must. I think maybe we should have talked budget right then but did not , so she probably gonna have a pretty nice unit lol.

Hopefully he showed you how to do that. Those GFI can be tricky. One time I was gone (kinda glad in a way, that would have been frustrating and neither one of us do frustrating really well) a circuit went out and it was not the circuit breaker. My wife went all over the house pushing those red buttons. None worked. I can't remember which circuit it was and I'm not going to ask her, she was frustrated. It was inside the house. Finally she pushed one on an outside porch that did the trick. Why those two circuits are linked is a pure mystery but she finally got it.

I've had those moments too Alex. In some ways it's a big relief that it is so simple, and in others it's embarrassing because it is so simple. But if you don't know what to do you just don't know. Hopefully that only happens once, I can handle that. Embarrassment takes over when it's a repeat performance.

Well, girls and guys, friends: GFIs are not tricky you/we just have to push the buttons. If no juice is suspected, push the test button 1 if there is a click push the other button and it will reset~
2 if there is no click, the circuit has opened, Push the other button and it will reset!

If it doesn't reset, replace the GFI~

I remember when they first came out and were required~I hated them then and we don't get on too well now`

You can usually ask repair places if the repair is worth the cost or if buying new is more economical. DEFINITELY keep my cars/trucks until the last mile. I salvaged a small wheelbarrow from my MIL with metal paint. It is the kind with the hard, rubber tire, shallow bed. I also bought a new bed for a midsized wheelbarrow that had a cracked plastic bed. I bought a metal replacement for that, but I need a good hour to figure out how to put it all back together again. I still have two wheelbarrow wheels. My help needed a new wheel for his so I gave him one last summer.
