Cat, I do exactly as you do. Better question: How should you get rid of a 48 inch bulb?

legally you are suppose to send them off to an approved recycle center. buy the shipping box and pay x amount per bulb.. now the cfl bulb some box stores will take them, lowes/homedepot/batteries plus..

You do know that is why they are called 'garden tubs', right.
NOBODY takes a bath in them. Everyone I know who has one has it filled with plants.

I can remember doing that in my twenties......BEFORE.

As in BEFORE I married
BEFORE I had kids
BEFORE I had dogs, horses, garden, chickens, pigs, sheep, (previously BEFORE cows, rabbits, quail)
BEFORE grandkids
BEFORE my DH retired
BEFORE life got busy......
