I've done one of these and "part" of the other .

I started my dahlia seeds indoors, in containers. They went out about the time of the tomatoes & peppers. Keeping the plants in containers through the season and moving those inside during the final weeks might even work for me! (BUT, THEY CANNOT FREEZE.) The smallest dahlias, once planted into the open are just had too tiny of tubers and tiny of life to get through storage. Of course, the storage conditions are less than ideal but they work for the majority of the dahlias I grow.could you plant them in a container and grow them in a controlled environment
Those were the standard-size dahlias that I was successful with, Fionn! For several years I had them ... Relegated to the "regular" section, they began to disappear from attrition. That's our fault - we don't necessarily want all "dinner plates" but smaller dahlias are kind of lost in the foliage. Pompom have to be enjoyed up close even if the plants are big.You know also -- some years the dahlias have a very short blooming season. Yes! Having a only couple of small flowers on a big plant is disappointing and not what pompom dahlias are supposed to be all about.I hope to get a pack of pompom dahlias.
