Where to store all those jars??? How about in the piano!

Heading back to the produce auction tonight. This will probably be the last big pile of things to can for the season - which is a good thing because I've filled every inch of the counter on one side of the stove (3 layers high) and am now working on the other.... it's going to be a while before that piano is ready to be storage...

(somebody needs to take the canner away from me before I start to get a little out of control....)

What a great cupboard! That is a perfect idea! Plus, you really shouldn't have your canned goods out in the light. I have seen people gut a baby grand and tip it on its side and make a really cool bookshelf. So fun to think "outside the box"! I imagine someday my house will fall down from the weight of all the empty jars in my attic. You know the ones that are too good to throw away!? It is highly unlikely I could ever can enough to use even half that I have collected!! Can't wait to see the finished project!

Auction last Thurs.
Came home with 30 mini-punkins' for the kids at church.
And a $7 box of tomatoes

And made 6qts of diced tomatoes and 9pints of diced tomatoes and green chilies.

With a light trembler at any time on the horizon ... your storage of 3 layers high filled caning jars will turn into a HUGE clean up then a disposal problem . Mt Rotmore will not take too kindly to brocken glass jars as compost fare . :hu

:) Funny enough, @ninnymary , not a single jar of jam or jelly here. It's almost all tomato (diced, sauce, soup base) or squash (for casseroles or soup) with several batches of peas or beans here and there.

@baymule , problems with the seals hadn't occured to me - will be spreading them out tonight.
(there goes the rest of my counter space... or maybe the floor in the spare room)

Where do yall store your canned goodies? My pantry is small and my cabinets are already full - no basement or garage.
