I have always heard that mint spreads so I have never planted that because of that, but I have also heard that about oregano and I have never had a problem with that. I think it will only spread as much as it is allowed. I have dug up extra oregano in the spring and potted it a couple of times so I think it you just keep an eye on it it can be managed. I planted three oregano this year, one was my orginal plant and added two more. If I need room in the spring out comes the shovel and out goes the oregano. I think you can do this same with mint.
Suggest for herbs..... I have sage gone mad in my herb garden. It smells wonderful and you can use it in everything and it will grow back and I think it looks beautiful. I will be trimming them back and harvesting the sage probably this weekend but that is my vote. Enjoy you garden.
