An idiot told an idiot to weedwhack my front garden. He took down Oriental poppies, lavender plants, giant columbines, hellebores, lilies, and more. Do any of these plants have any hope of coming back? It looks like the poppies may have started springing back up but look sickly. Ditto with the yarrow, and I see a few coneflowers. I am so mad! Anything I can due to try to baby the plants back? This was a 10-year-old garden!

You may lose the season's flowers, but all of these should regrow from the roots. Nothing special you should do to baby them except keep them safe from future weedwhackers.

Oh goodness... :hugs I would flip my lid!

All of them are perennial. That lavender may even appreciate the "pruning". Hopefully you'll get some blooms this year, delayed perhaps. Next year, they'll be back for sure. If it's anything like how my DH weedeats, they're probably down to the dirt. :\

Thanks for the encouragement, journey11. Yep, down to the ground. And the ultimate insult was that the idiots left the weeds. The noxious mustard weeds are still blooming tall and merrily. Fools!

Oh wow. I'm so sorry!
My Dad is forever offering to mow my yard and I'm forever coming up with reasons why he doesn't need to. LOL His view is that if it isn't a tree or the house, it's yard and needs to be mowed.

My husband went on mindless mode and trimmed the flowering plants before they flowered. He knows better...
But, stuff happens.

Forgive... but be sure you get some more replacement plants out of the idiot, you still need some flowers this year, even if it comes in the form of a bouquet.

My father did the same to me, then looked me in the eye and said they where weeds. I keep the tool shed locked now. Might want to buy cheap wire fence to put around them.
